WWTGD in Century City

I’m not an early riser by anyone’s definition.

A very disrupted body clock under the influence of two weeks of crisscrossing time zones had me wide awake at 06:15 PST not too long ago.

The bad timing of being up early enough to watch the sunrise was offset by the Nespresso machine in my hotel room that pumped out three delicious lungos without hesitation.

As I sipped my coffee on the balcony, I realized that I was going to have quite a view of Century City. I felt like I needed to take advantage of the moment. In the case of architectural portrait opportunities, I simply rely on the acronym WWTGD.

That stands for “What Would Tim Griffith Do?”

I’m sure he would have told me to get up earlier and get myself outside. I’m also sure that he would have made his way to my hotel’s roof to take advantage of some nice southern California light.

I decided to simply try my best at a basic photograph and enjoy the sunrise.

It was a very good experience.
