Workplace Studio: Birmingham

I’ve found myself in a lot of different workplaces over the years. I’ve photographed in offices ranging from small to giant, and to shop floors on a spectrum of clean to gritty.

The one constant thing about workplaces is that you can’t simulate or fake happiness with real employees. If the team members aren’t happy it is painfully obvious.

Sure, it’s easy to bring in models or actors to try to look the part but that’s hardly convincing either.

I’m a fan of the real thing and I’m never going to waste my time on a simulation.

Luckily, none of my many sessions at Protective Life in Birmingham, Alabama were ever less than stellar.

The portrait above in their architecturally significant HQ tells the story.
