Welcome to my backlot

Studios are ideal for the right kind of artist but not for me. I need to work under open skies, in a place that changes with the sun and seasons.

This way of working is reactive to the conditions and proactive with my subject. I control what I can and bend myself toward the conditions at hand. Some artists would disagree with this approach but to me it’s perfectly natural.

Just steps from my front door, I have a backlot of locations at the ready with a variety of environments just right for any project. This might the the greatest creative tool I have at my disposal.

This portrait was captured on the southern end of my backlot just a four minute walk away.
