There seem to be some myths about what to wear or what not to wear to a photography session in order to attain optimum results.
The one that even after 37 years in the business that makes me scratch my head is the admonishment to never wear white. I still don’t know where that came from.
The ongoing vertical stripes vs horizontal stripes is another mystery to me. The reality is that when a portrait succeeds, the expression of the subject will be what’s memorable.
I try to make it as easy as possible by telling people to wear something that makes them feel confident. Most of the time that’s exactly what happens.
When I photographed Brian and Rachel we just skipped the wardrobe dilemma and got right to the picture taking.
That’s always the best way.
