Van with Seoul

This boutique in Seoul’s Gangnam neighborhood is one of many that have English names. Often though, the words don’t quite translate.

There’s nothing wrong with the name. Upon consideration, it’s an accurate representation of what they sell.

However, this slightly stilted version of modernity that combines east and west often had me scratching my head.

Being an alien for a couple of weeks was revelatory. I learned a lot and I’m ready to go back.

As soon as my plans are set I’m going to upgrade my Korean language skills to include, “may I rent your van.”
