Unified Color Theory

Lime green, purple, kelly green, and gray. Those are the colors of the four rooms on the south side of my house.

Guess which one is my office? Now guess which ones had the colors selected by my daughters when they were young?

There’s no shortage of color theory to suit the desires of consumers and artists. In my house, we never went in for theory. We just got a couple of large cans of paint and let loose.

The happiness that kids derived from their bold color choices were worth the occasional squinting required for me to momentarily forget. I must be acclimated to the garishness because the kids are grown and gone and those rooms still have their colors.

Maybe the owner of this bike that I saw in Marina del Rey feels the same way.
