Tune in, Tune out

The first thing that I do when I arrive at a hotel is to put the “do not disturb” placard on the door.

I have two reasons for this activity. First and foremost, it’s a homing beacon that is very helpful when I invariably forget my room number. Second, it tells the world to please don’t bother me.

Is interesting that earbuds can also serve a sign to the world that solitude is requested.

Upon arrival at my gym, I insert my earbuds straight away . It’s not that I’m anti-social, it’s that I’m there to accomplish something specific.

I’m not alone in this kind of intentional tune in/tune out method.

For better or for worse, I love being able to isolate myself with self-curated music or a trained actor reading a book to me while I exercise.
