I try to spend as much time walking in new places as possible. Tulsa is not a new place to me but my visits there are infrequent. So infrequent that even familiar places change between trips.
While wandering around downtown recently I came upon a retail space that was probably under renovation. But I was left to guess as to what was actually going on because the windows were covered with a whitewash that blocked the view.
I’m not sure what this accomplishes. I think most people appreciate a work in progress.
There are those that feel that a “big reveal” is a way to build demand. That’s an obvious tool of consumerism but I don’t think it works for art.
The beauty of art can be experienced in the creation as much as in the completion.
