Training Wheels

While sitting at a restaurant a while back, I watched a guy summon his parked Tesla.

He and the other three people in his party were waiting on the sidewalk while the invisible valet delivered the car.

It was the first time I had seen that magic trick in action and it didn’t disappoint.

My parking skills are stellar owing to unorthodox training. I learned on a car the size of a hearse. Specifically, a Ford station wagon slightly bigger than this old beater.

Life in the city and a foundation of driving big Detroit metal means that parallel parking for me is a cinch.

Still, I look forward to someday outsourcing my car wrangling to an automated machine that works for me instead of the other way around.
