Time Travels

I spend about 120 nights every year away from home. If that sounds awful to you, I agree. That’s because 120 nights away isn’t nearly enough for me. But little by little, I’m ratcheting that number ever higher.

Many of my nights spent away are at Hampton Inns. Let’s just say that I’m a big fan.

This room placard is indicative of all the great things about Hampton.

First of all, there’s a different photograph that accompanies each room number. And the photographs are in black and white. And in this case, it’s photograph of a model airplane.

The monochrome picture appeals to me as a photographer, the aviation reference appeals to me as a pilot, and the room number is also my area code which is a favor to my short-term memory.

It’s almost as if someone at Hampton Inn traveled back in time and asked the 11-year-old me to list the elements for a perfect room identifier.
