The Right Path

“When you come to a fork in the road, take it.”

That’s a famous quote attributed to the baseball legend Yogi Berra. Mr. Berra came from St. Louis’s Italian neighborhood known as The Hill.

My first studio was located three blocks from Yogi’s street. I ended up in that neighborhood and in the business of photography because I took a series of forks. There’s no telling if my choices set me off on the right way or the wrong way.

I used to think of the roads that I didn’t choose. Now I tell myself that I just haven’t chosen them yet.

For anyone who has a lasting career in the arts, it’s a certainty that their journey followed a path that appeared to be the wrong way.
