The Painter Inside

I often say that if I could draw, I wouldn’t be a photographer.

There’s more than a nugget of truth in that throw-away statement. What I am actually saying is that when I was young, I couldn’t draw which is why I gravitated to photography.

I have an affinity for painting today that’s strong but not enough to get a canvas set up.

The works that appeal to me the most are abstract.

When I happened upon this little patch of something in Mexico, I knew it was the kind of painting that I wish I could create.
