The Mimimalist Brothers

I could see my subject from about a half a block away as we simultaneously converged at the meeting place in the Lower East Side for a summer street session.

Even from that distance, I could tell that we were going to get along great.

That’s because he was arriving with his creative tools in a case on his back just like me.

I travel light by design, carrying only what I need. So does he. It’s like we’re brothers in minimalism.

Right off the bat, we talked about why having our tools of creation at hand is so important. We shared stories about how this allows us to act in the moment as ideas strike.

For both of us, a studio full of equipment is great but having the skills and experience to make use of the minimal amount of gear is better.
