Sometimes photographing a person who wears glasses means that a little extra work will be required.
Reflections from the primary light source, like a flash or even the ambient light, can make it hard to see the subject’s eyes. However, typically it’s not a big deal. Sometimes removal of the glasses becomes the solution.
While it may sound cliche, the eyes really are the windows to the soul. When a portrait is done right, the viewer will naturally be drawn to that exact place on the photograph.
As you can see from this San Diego street session, there were no technical issues with the glasses. In fact, the glasses were quite an enhancement to the look of the subject.
She told me after we were finished that she tried wearing contact lenses but went back to glasses after a few too many people told her that she didn’t look like herself sans spectacles.
To prove the point she removed the eyeglasses for me to decide for myself.
She was right.
