Terminal Two Mystery

The restless photographer was killing time again at the airport. Something that passed for dinner was rumbling in his stomach. Twenty bucks for mystery meat with the aftertaste of regret.

He was never inclined to sit, so he wandered a mostly empty terminal. The only people he saw were the poor souls waiting for the delayed flight to Cleveland. The same one he’d be on unless fate intervened.

It could have been worse. It could have been the flight to Oklahoma City. Talk about a one-way ticket to nowhere. Been there done that.

As he closed in on his 3,000th step, that’s when he saw it. Was it a sign or a signal? Was this book just lying on the counter at gate E20 for a reason? Only suckers believe in coincidences.

It made as much sense as de-icing a plane that’s only going to be re-iced when it touches down in Ohio’s bizzard belt.

That’s when it all became clear.
