Summer Placebo

How’s your summer going?

My friend Nick in New Zealand is currently enjoying his. Then again, his epicurean lifestyle functions well any time of the year.

Warm weather in any season cures anything that ails me. The only problem is that my regular winter dose has been reduced due to circumstances beyond my control.

Now I’m forced to rely on a placebo, which loses its effectiveness when you know it’s not the real thing.

The trick is to look at a warm-weather photograph to jog my memory of days that didn’t require bundling up.

This picture of folks enjoying late-night ice cream in Ohio did the trick.
