Such a Tool
A sculpture studio is no place for delicate sensibilities.
It can be a storm to the senses. Power tools at deafening levels. Welders and torches filling the air with smoke. Within minutes, you start to feel a layer of grit settle on your skin.
That’s exactly what I experienced in Boise when I arrived at D’Arcy Bellamy’s place.
His kinetic sculputres are meant to survive for decades out in the harsh world. In order to do that, they must emerge from a rougher trial by fire.
D’Arcy’s tools turned out to be works of art where his works of art are made. These clamps are just a few of the tools that facilitate creation.
