Stuck in the Middle
This place sucks.
These people are dumb.
I’m going nowhere fast.
When I was a teen, I’d hear adults tell me that I should enjoy my youth and that high school could be the best time of my life.
My innate feeling was that they were delusional. All these years later, I know that my instincts were right. Even if someone thinks that’s true, it’s almost cruel to tell that to a kid.
What I wanted to hear was just a little truth.
Maybe something like, “don’t peak too soon” or “nobody has the answers.”
If I had only heard someone say, “we’re all struggling” things would have been a lot easier.
