Even though I spend a lot of time in Los Angeles I still can’t get my head around the various microclimates of the area.
Venice and Santa Monica seem to have their very own weather system that marches to their own drummer. This also applies to the look and feel of both cities. In short, predictability goes out the window when I’m working there.
As they say, this is a feature, not a bug.
When I left Burbank to make my way to this session it was clear and sunny. When I arrived in Venice I found the last gasps of a marine layer that diffused my light in a way that inspired a dreamy look with my subject George.
A gift like this is always willingly accepted.
