South Carolina Swatch Book

Color wheels and swatch books; I used to have dozens of them for work and home.

Background color selection for studio portraits was never easy for clients. Blame it on the paradox of choice. Too many options were usually a curse, not a blessing.

The agonizing over paint colors for my walls during home renovation was significant. I may never get over it.

Now I’m inclined to let someone else make the color decisions for me. There’s nothing better than seeing a mock-up with large sample sheets attached. These are especially helpful when multiple hues are involved.

Nature’s palette is even more satisfying. This state park in South Carolina, built to honor President Andrew Jackson, was sheer perfection. Not just in the hiking trail but in the subtle colors that stop you in your tracks.
