Sky King
When I think about dinner, I visualize a plate appearing. Maybe something created in my own kitchen or ordered at a restaurant.
A red-tailed hawk just waits until something enters its sightline. Considering that this bird can see a mouse at 100 feet means that his options are on par with mine.
There’s something about this kind of ruthless predator that’s compelling.
The man in the photo is licensed to house and train birds of prey. The hawk on his hand has been in his care since it was a chick. A few weeks after the session, the bird was returned to the wild.
The photo session in Texas was my momentary intersection with a very interesting life cycle.
