Sidewalk Portrait

Most people know me as a portrait photographer.

Occasionally I’m asked if I will break free and photograph a building or a landscape or even a plate of shrimp.

My answer is always yes. I tell people that I’m always keen to make a portrait of a building or a landscape or even a plate of shrimp.

I remind people all of the time that portraits aren’t limited to human subject matter.

This sidewalk in Ohio was a recent non-human portrait that had everything that I could possibly want. A willing subject with a sense of pride who isn’t afraid to show a few visible imperfections, captured in dappled light on a summer day.
