Showroom Dreaming

Some things are easy to buy online without ever examining them in person.

I have no problem buying a camera sight unseen. Same for a phone or a computer, though one could argue that a phone is a computer.

However, a musical instrument is certainly something that calls out for a hands-on examination. I’m not a guitar player but I can see the need for a tactile engagement before laying down big money.

This guitar store in Maplewood, Missouri is the real deal not just for retail excellence, but as a location for photography. I walked in and got right down to business. I didn’t spend even a minute on propping or set dressing before I captured my first frame.

This place is a shrine to musicianship.

It reminded me of some long-gone camera stores where I used to pass the time touching and dreaming.

By not “needing” a camera store, I wonder if that means one of my dreams has come true.
