Separated Birdie

I spotted this rare solitary avian a few days ago in the wilds of my neighborhood pharmacy’s parking lot.

Migratory birds are part of the surroundings where I live, especially for geese transiting the Mississippi Flyway.

I’m not an expert but I could see that this little birdie was separated from the comfort, safety, and companionship of the other shuttlecocks.

Birds don’t have emotions but he sure looked forlorn to me. I say he, because the taxonomy doesn’t address the existence of shuttlehens.

Meddling in nature is usually a bad idea but I decided to pick him up from the asphalt and put him in a more visible place.

Hopefully, he fell in with someone who can guide him back to his home court.
