Seattle’s Best Rower

This is Luanne Mills. Most people know her for her accomplishments as a world record rower.

I know her for being a willing and patient subject. She’s also quick to teach you everything you might ever want to know about the sport of rowing.

The session and my training took place inside of the Pocock Rowing Center and on their adjacent docks.

A couple of times we got the full effect of a passing boat’s wake which made the surface of the dock feel like a bounce house. Luckily with my minimal kit, it was one more element of fun on an already memorable session.

As fun as the docks turned out to be, the best portraits were made in their storage facility that was flooded with natural light.

As if getting a great portrait of an elite athlete isn’t enough, I got a one on one seminar on the proper use of a Concept2 rowing machine.

Having learned the right technique means that my weekly sessions are no longer performed weakly.
