Time is on display in Santa Fe, New Mexico and it’s measured in centuries instead of seconds.
Old things endure here and new things are made to look old. There’s an ethos of sustainability which is put into practice rather than talked about in amorphous terms.
The city is functional and useful too. Its history as the oldest state capital is just one fact that stands out about this place that’s been used by empires and civilizations.
Time is a huge factor in art. Time for creation and time for enjoyment are paramount.
Artists know that they only have a limited amount of time to create. Artists also know that if they get lucky, something that they have created may outlast them and continue to delight and intrigue.
Much like this former Santa Fe tree did for me.
