Run, Don’t Walk!

Sit down!

Be quiet!

Stop running!

These are the commandments from school that I’ll never forget.

Of course, there were exceptions.

Getting to church on time before school started was the Catholic school prime directive. Like a fire truck speeding to a conflagration, we were allowed to break almost any rule to be in our seats before the priest stepped on the alter.

My public school restrictions ceased at the last bell of the day. Probably because the teachers were spent and the busses would roll no matter who was missing.

Some folks long for those days of compliance and obedience.

Not me.

When I see a kid running somewhere, I assume that it’s for a good reason. As long as I don’t get knocked down, enjoy the run!
