Roll With The Changes

Change isn’t just coming, it’s already here. Sure, you can fight it and maybe hold it off for a while.

Eventually, it’s best to accept the inevitable and roll with it.

When “Roll with the Changes” by REO Speedwagon came out in 1978, the band was at its creative peak. Now they’re an oldies act. The remaining members are in their 70s. They’re still getting paid to play which seems pretty rock and roll to me.

These musicians were masters of their craft in the studio and on stage. Today, someone can cut a record with a laptop and play it on stage with loops and backing tracks that sound great.

The tech of today is a great leveler for musicians, though not so great if you own a studio. On the other hand, I have the entire discography of REO in my back pocket.

As they say, the only constant in life is change.
