What’s so special about this photograph? Is it just a random urban scene? No way. To me, it’s a moment in time in a city that I was seeing with fresh eyes.
Would a Milanese tourist walking around downtown St. Louis get the same feeling of wonder at the intersection of St. Charles and Ninth Streets?
Milan has its own look and feel. So does my city. But they’re both unique and can stand apart visually from their national peers.
I’m sure most locals would think that their street isn’t special. That happens in every country.
In this case, I just captured what I like. There was something about the light and scale of this place that I’ll never forget.
