Pseudo Womp
There are numerous technical descriptions of how uncorrected wide-angle lenses distort straight lines. This typically manifests itself bent edges on the corners of the frame.
The jargon of photographers in the know is more poetic. We call it, womp. As in, “man, you really womped the corners there.” Or, “the womp on that shot is making me dizzy.”
This portait contains a bit of fake out for the womp-aware.
The window that she’s leaning on is round which gives the viewer a pseudo womp experience.
When I was reviewing the files from this Manhattan session, I even fooled myself.
