Occasionally, I’ll be asked by a paying client to scout a location. My standard response is to say that I prefer not to waste their money but if they insist, I will indulge their folly.
Some clients see a scouting trip as an insurance policy. When they do, I proceed as instructed.
This session with a mix of window light and ambient incandescents is a perfect example that everything can’t be planned. I scouted the location with the client and she was satisfied that all of the exterior locations were solid.
The next day I captured everything that they dreamed of and more.
The “and more” part was taken inside of a restaurant across the street from where we all parked.
This is the shot that kicked off the entire campaign.
I was the only one that didn’t seem surprised that something better than what was “agreed upon” could turn out better than anything they’d imagined.
