Private Street Studio

The idea of a street that’s blocked off for locals only is an insane concept unless you live in St. Louis.

The blame lies with some 19th-century legal quirk that allows certain residents to “own” their road. The rules around this exclusionary custom are pretty strange too. Some streets are permanently closed and some are open on a rotating schedule. Figuring it all out makes my head hurt so I avoid those areas when I can.

However, when I want to have an outdoor session on a leafy lane with no traffic, I can always count on a private street to make a great studio.

This one near Washington University is one of my favorites.
