Postcard From Topeka

Never have I been so thrilled to be back in Kansas. Tomorrow I have the opportunity to put my camera skills to work. That’s been rather scarce for most of the year.

I gave myself plenty of extra time in order to take the long way from Kansas City.

Maybe I haven’t been paying attention or maybe I just forgot that Kansas road signs use a sunflower as a background which is state-sanctioned art at its best.

Getting lost on state and county roads here takes effort because of the sensible alignment to the cardinal points of the compass. Make any left after driving toward the setting sun and you’ll be heading south.

US 24 brought me into Topeka with enough time for some wandering with my camera and some wondering about the cars and trucks passing below my vantage point.

After my session, the plan is to head home using a different route in order to maximize my Kansas experience.
