I don’t sell shampoo, but I do use this tactic when I’m casting for my stock photography operation.
Once a subject has been booked for a session, I follow up with a detailed brief covering all aspects of the production. The very last item that I mention is that the hired subject is welcome to bring along a spouse or friend.
This started as an implied comfort measure for individuals who had not yet worked with me. It turned out to be an occasional bit of serendipity.
On this session near Miami, the “plus one” is the wife of a fellow who was a great subject. As we were wrapping, I was glad that it wasn’t a contest in which I had to pick a winner.
