Pike Place Punchline

As I was leaving, an alley caught my eye. As I made my way deeper into the graffiti-ed depths, I noticed a woman struggling to set up a duo shot on a tripod with her husband. They could only do one frame at a time and their progress was slow

I asked if I could help.

She explained that it was their 20th wedding anniversary and they were trying to duplicate a shot taken ten years ago on the same day.

I asked to see the old shot, then I jumped into action.

“Move your right foot three inches toward the step….put your left hand in your left pocket…lower your elbow…lift up your hand so that the lens can see your wedding ring…”

I rattled off about 20 frames and insisted that they review the take.

They seemed very happy with the results and thanked me profusely. Before I took my leave, I handed over my business card.

“Oh, you’re a photographer!”

I said, “yes I am and that’s the punch line for your story.”
