Pictographs.

What started as cave paintings thousands of years ago are now easily recognizable symbols that can communicate without ambiguity.

This one on a high terraced ledge in Seoul is the best one I’ve ever seen. If you don’t get it, maybe it’s a good idea to avoid high places in Korea.
