Pay To Play

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

It’s one thing to hear this statement and quite another to believe it.

Congratulate yourself if you’ve avoided peril by understanding this truism. This level of knowledge doesn’t come with age. In fact, most people never learn this lesson. If they did, Las Vegas would be a wide spot in the road.

The hope of big rewards for little work aren’t limited to gambling. These notions abound in the corporate world too and some of them are crazier than others.

SEO is a cute acronym for some voodoo called “search engine optimization” which has become an entire industry by and for corner-cutters. In short, it’s the hubris of thinking that one can hop on Google or Facebook and game their system for your own financial gain.

There was a time not too long ago in which media cost money to create and consume. You had to pay to play. It wasn’t cheap but it usually worked.

The difference today is that nobody is paying for anything and in return, they’re getting nothing.

Not even a window covering.
