Pavement Nickel
This post is a map to a treasure.
Embedded in the pavement of a crosswalk at 8th Avenue and West 56th Street, you’ll find this nickel. It’s yours for the taking. Just make sure you have a tool to pry it out.
I’m not sure how a coin stayed unpicked long enough to become permanently fixed to the tarmac in such an interesting way.
Any number of stories or metaphors can be spun out of this reality. I have six or seven that I’m thinking about right now, each one just as plausible as the other.
Ultimately, I prefer the mystery of the unknown.
