Ownership Stake
On a commercial gig, a photographer can do 20 out of 20 things right and still not make the client happy.
There are so many intangibles that are part of a session. Any shortfall can change the perception of the work at any stage of the process.
Is that fair? Experienced pros know it’s not, but it’s rarely even thought about, since it’s just part of the proecess.
As the creator, I’m on the hook for the downside. That also allows me to claim all of the upside.
Was it an accident that this blue and gray color palatte turned out to be bettter than anything imagined? Maybe.
Since it came from my camera and my eye, I was the one that owned the sucess for this outcome.
