May is the month that marks the transition to outdoor living for me and my neighbors. Patio furniture has been deployed and it’s now warm enough for al fresco dining in between outdoor reading and naps in the shade.
Now is when my section of the rust belt becomes a sun belt, if only for half of the year.
I’m really drawn to places that allow simultaneous indoor and outdoor living. The paradise of Hawaii is the most attractive in this category but too far away. Southern California is a close second.
Florida is a nice compromise for times when the season at home is too cold for comfort.
This portrait was taken at an outdoor post office near Orlando. Outdoor and post office aren’t usually in the same sentence but in this case, it’s a great fit.
