Only in Summer

If I lived in a place that only had one or two seasons, I don’t know if I’d enjoy summer as much as I do now.
There’s something about the longest days of the year that make me so grateful for the few things that don’t exist in any other season.
It’s quite possible that there’s a multiplicative effect that happens when you get certain things simultaneously.
-Cooking and dining on a patio; mine or someone else’s.
-Morning coffee and a book. Proper attire for this is shorts and bare feet.
-Fresh cherries and sweet corn at their peak. Moderation doesn’t apply here.
Those three things can last for most of the summer.
There are a few more things that are even more fleeting. They last as long as a cloud of fireworks smoke.
Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.
