One-Hit Wonder

“They’re a one-hit wonder.”

Anyone who says that ignores the following:

-years of practice
-forgoing everything to buy gear
-creating something from nothing
-performing in front of strangers
-getting a manager and agent
-signing a contract
-working with a team
-self-promotion
-live performance
-playing the industry game

One may think that any or all of these challenges are merely incidental or even easy. I can promise that none of them are.

When I hear this kind of derision, I have a standard question.

“I’m just wondering; where’s your one hit?”
