Old Reliable
If you’re like me, you probably have that one special tool at the ready for a task that defies categorization.
In my case, it’s a pair of Klein lineman’s pliers which originally lived in my grandfather’s toolbox. I don’t know the purchase date but I’ve been using them for more than 30 years and I suspect that there was at least a 30-year service life before I started my use.
This tool is drop-forged. If you don’t know what drop-forged means, you’ll probably never need lineman’s pliers.
The Colorado truck in the photograph above, is the same kind of tool at a different scale. Instead of waiting for the next project inside of a toolbox, the truck is parked on the east side of the barn. The key is in the ashtray and it’s ready for service when the need arises.
