Office Space
This portrait was conceived to illustrate a modern office in a big city.
I was told to spare no expense looking for just the right place. The search was not limited by geography. It turned out that after paying for the search, the client had little money left over to rent a location.
Their empty wallet focused their thinking and allowed them to realize that their own offices in lower Manhattan would work just fine.
It was their decision to depopulate the background. Probably because the majority of the staff dressed like vagabonds.
In the end, it presaged the workplace of the moment. Empty, quiet, and expensive.
