When I arrived at my subject’s house in Marin County, I had a feeling that the place was a goldmine for portraits. That’s before I even knew there was a garden.
My hunch was right.
I didn’t bother with any other potential interior or exterior settings.
This session wasn’t my first gig in Novato, California. Like the others, the outdoor settings were an embarrassment of riches.
My subject was a little surprised at my immediate attraction to this wicker bench. She thought it was a bit too pedestrian. After setting up my lights and firing off a few test frames I showed her what I saw.
She told me that from then on she’d see it in the positive light that I did.
