Mystery Deuce

Mosaics are magnets for the eyes.

For me, rustic versions triumph over refined ones. I still don’t know what attracts me more, the art or the craft.

Assembling a jigsaw puzzle is a cognitive exercise. They can be as tedious as they are fun. Now imagine creating one in reverse. This puts you on the right track for understanding the mosaic process.

The more amorphous approach that unites disparate pieces always draws me in.

This one was a case in point. Shards, scraps, and a mystery numeral were all cemented into the floor of a restaurant. It stopped me in my tracks.
