Move To The Light
A sidewalk portrait will never match the precision of a six sigma assembly line. However, there are moments in which microscopic adjustments can enhance the outcome.
My starting direction is almost always, “move to the light.”
From there it gets much more detailed. Asking a subject to move just a quarter of an inch isn’t an uncommon part of my orchestration.
These little increments are a challenge but when they work, it’s a real joy.
