More with Less

Recently I was trying to sketch a graph on a napkin in order to demonstrate the paradoxical effect of what happens when an experienced photographer deliberately reduces equipment in order to attain a more compelling portrait.

But then it occurred to me that this photograph from a session near Times Square makes a more compelling case.

One camera, one lens, and one light plus a lifetime of minimalist practice resulted in a much better creative result than a truckload of gear would ever supply.
