Capturing the moment

Some things can’t be staged or simulated.

This moment was as real as it looks. The photograph is evidence of a magical moment that I captured on a beach in Destin, Florida.

There’s nothing wrong with a portrayal or a perfect performance. But like most things in life, the real thing is better than a copy, no matter how masterfully created.

I’ve been through a lot of stages in my creative life as a photographer. The point of origin was as a photojournalist in which I was only there to capture, not to create.

From there I made my way to studio work in which everything was manufactured to the nth degree.

Now I live in a place in between those two poles, merging the capturing and creating at the very same moment.

That place leaves me in an ideal position to capitalize on lucky gifts like this moment on a beach.
