From time to time, I’ll encounter a portrait subject that struggles with being in front of the camera. Most of the time it’s due to some unfounded anxiety. The good news is it can usually be fixed. It’s not always easy, but my track record for putting people at ease is solid.
On the other end of the spectrum, there are some subjects that can’t contain their joy. When this kind of person comes along, I let their positive attitude take the wheel.
This session on a warm Manhattan summer day a few years ago was with just that kind of person.
I’m not sure what unit of measure one uses to calculate lovely expressions. In this case, miles of smiles might be just right.
